Privacy notice

This notice explains how Guyana Journey (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use guyanajourney.com, send us a trip request or travel on a trip we arrange. If you have questions, email hello@guyanajourney.com.
What we collect
- Trip requests: your name, email address, travel dates, number of travelers and children’s ages, interests, places, budget range and anything you write in your message.
- Trip planning and bookings: details needed to book your services, such as full names as in passports, dates of birth where airlines require them, dietary or mobility needs you choose to share, and arrival and departure details.
- Technical data: when you submit the form, our hosting provider processes your IP address to prevent abuse (rate limiting and bot protection). We store the page you came from and a coarse country code, not your IP address.
Please do not send passport scans, payment card numbers or detailed medical information through the form or by unsolicited email. If we need sensitive details to book a service, we will tell you why and how to send them.
Why we use it
- To reply to your request and plan your trip (steps taken at your request before a contract).
- To book the trip you accept with the operator who delivers it, and to handle your prepayment (performance of a contract).
- To keep records we are required to keep, such as accounting records (legal obligation).
- To protect the site from spam and abuse (legitimate interests).
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it and we do not add you to a newsletter.
Who we share it with
- Providers in your trip (airlines, lodges, guides and transfer companies in Guyana), only the details they need to deliver their service, once you have asked us to book it.
- Service providers that run our website and email, including Cloudflare (hosting, form processing, database storage, bot protection and email delivery) and Piqo (website analytics). They process data on our behalf.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and Guyana. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
How long we keep it
- Trip requests that do not lead to a booking: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
- Booking records: as long as required for accounting, tax and legal purposes.
Cookies and analytics
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. To understand how the site is used, we use Piqo, a privacy-focused analytics service, in cookieless mode: it counts page views and clicks on links and buttons (for example “Plan your trip”), and processes your IP address and browser details to recognise repeat visits within a day without identifying you. It does not record what you type into forms. The bot protection on our form (Cloudflare Turnstile), when enabled, may process technical information about your browser to tell people from bots.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to its use, to receive a copy of it and to complain to a data protection authority. To use these rights, email hello@guyanajourney.com. We will reply within one month.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access limited to the people who plan your trip. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Changes
We will update this notice if the way we handle personal data changes, and show the date the current version took effect at the top of the page.
