Terms

Effective 9 October 2026

These terms apply to your use of guyanajourney.com and to trips booked through Guyana Journey (“we”, “us”). The written proposal for your trip forms part of your agreement and takes priority over these general terms where the two differ.

1. Our role

Guyana Journey plans trips to Guyana and is your booking contact. Each trip is delivered by an independent, licensed local operator in Guyana, together with the lodges, airlines, guides and transport it works with. Guyana Journey is not the tour operator and does not own or operate aircraft, lodges, vehicles or boats. Your proposal names the operator who delivers your trip.

2. Trip requests and proposals

Sending a trip request is free and does not create a booking or any obligation. A proposal sets out the itinerary, the total price and what it includes and excludes, the prepayment and the balance, cancellation terms and the operator who delivers the trip. Proposals are valid for the period they state and depend on availability when you accept.

3. Booking and payment

A booking is made when you accept a proposal and pay the prepayment to Guyana Journey. We then confirm the booking with the operator and confirm it to you in writing. The remaining balance is paid directly to the operator in Guyana, in the amount and at the time stated in your proposal. The total of the prepayment and the balance is the total price in your proposal; we do not add surcharges after you book.

4. Operator conditions

The operator delivers the trip under its own operating conditions, which may include baggage limits on light aircraft, minimum group sizes and safety rules. Your proposal highlights conditions that materially affect you. Operators may change schedules for reasons of safety, weather or operations.

5. Changes and cancellations

If you want to change or cancel a booking, tell us in writing. If you cancel your booking, we refund your prepayment, as set out in our cancellation policy. If the operator cannot deliver your trip, we will tell you as soon as possible and offer an alternative or refund your prepayment.

6. Prices

Prices are as stated in your proposal. Prices published on this website as reference points are not offers.

7. Your responsibilities

  • Hold a valid passport, any visas and the vaccinations or certificates required for your journey.
  • Take out travel insurance covering medical treatment and evacuation from remote areas, and cancellation if you wish. This is a condition of travel.
  • Tell us before booking about any health, mobility or dietary needs that could affect your trip.
  • Follow the safety instructions of guides, pilots and boat operators, and respect local communities, laws and protected areas.

8. Responsibilities

We plan your trip and handle your booking with reasonable skill and care, and we give accurate information about the trips we offer. The operator is responsible for delivering the trip. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including rights you have under consumer protection law where you live.

9. Events beyond anyone’s control

Weather, natural events, strikes, government action, disease outbreaks and similar events can disrupt travel. Where they do, we will help you rearrange your plans. Refunds follow our cancellation policy and applicable law.

10. Complaints

If something is not right during your trip, tell the operator and us straight away so we can try to fix it. If you remain unhappy, email hello@guyanajourney.com within 28 days of your return and we will respond in writing.

11. Website

Information on this website is provided for general planning and may change. Sample itineraries are illustrative and are not offers. Photographs are credited on each page and remain the property of their authors under their licences.

12. Law

The law that governs your booking and the courts that can hear disputes are stated in your proposal. This does not affect any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
